Dawn-Marie Clark started singing at the age of 3 on the coffee table with the vacuum cleaner for the microphone! She sang all through school as Alto until in 11th grade where the choir teacher recognized that she was and is a Soprano. Dawn-Marie was a member of 2 marching bands, 2 choirs, the theater and the orchestra. Dawn-Marie did not start studying voice until after high school where she auditioned for a music school of 500 students, East Carolina University School of Music, Greenville, NC (at that time was 5th school in the nation for Performing) and attended. Dawn-Marie returned home after a year and studied for many years with Diana Borgia-Petro and most recently with Richard Johnson. She still pursued college and graduated with a Liberal Arts Degree from West Chester University, West Chester, Pennsylvania.
Dawn-Marie has performed in 6 student recitals in the 1990's coaching with: Mr. Martin Rich (Associate Conductor at the Met: 1950 to 1975) and Mr. Louis Menendez, who served with Curtis Institute of Music as Staff Pianist & Coach/Accompanist for Academy of Vocal Arts and Sherry Seigle-Metzler.
She performed a mini-recital for the Lancaster Christian Women's Club and another recital where she shared the stage with a singer collogue in 1996.
Then Mr. Gary Atkinson heard her voice and wrote 2 soprano solos for her in his Passion for Christ performed in Conshohocken. She has been the soloist and member of the choir at Wallingford Presbyterian, Manheim United Methodist, Prospect Park United Methodist, and has returned as a repeated performer at Conshohocken United Methodist, Baptist Church in Lancaster, and Lower Merion Baptist Church.
Dawn-Marie has been a soloist and member for Chester County Gilbert & Sullivan Society, the Princeton Opera Society; the Mary Greene Singers, the Delaware Valley Chorale, the Rose Valley Chorus: where some of those performances took place at Longwood Gardens (Summer and Christmas Festivals) and the Philadelphia Phillies Games.
Her opera roles include while in the Amici Opera Company: "Inez" in Il Trovatore (Verdi), "Mama Lucia" in Cavalleria Rusticana (Puccini), as one of the sisters in Suor Angelica (Puccini), and one of the three witches in Macbeth (Verdi).
She has coached most recently with Mr. Benjamin Blozan (Opera Coach/ Accompanist/Recording Engineer) who recently relocated to the University of North Carolina to pursue a Doctorate in Piano. Dawn-Marie started recording with Ben in 2004 and today they have over 35 songs recorded together including "Mary Did You Know", Schubert’s "Ave Maria", Brahms, Faure, Strauss, Debussy: songs in 5 languages, etc. along with Broadway and Christian tunes. She wants to continue and expand her recording repertoire.
Dawn-Marie sings with the The Main Line Opera Guild because it allows her to display her talent without limiting what she sings.
She recently held a Voice Recital in Lower Merion, Pennsylvania, October 2009, where she raised close to $1,000 in which all monies were donated to the American Diabetes Association. Dawn-Marie sends a Special "Thank You" to all who helped contribute to such a successful program. Without the Love and Support of family members, great friends, great co-workers, and great church members the program would not have been possible. Thank you!!
